Most VPN’s couldn’t care less what people are doing so long as they pay their bill on time. It’s usually an interested third party that comes to them and says “We had someone harassing our disabled users on our site using one of your ip addresses. Here’s the specific information we have. Can you kindly tell them to fuck off?”. At that point the VPN goes back over their throughput logs, finds the offending user, and Bob’s your uncle.
We don’t.
That’s why I’ve just been moving to servers that can mitigate DDoS attacks.
