Yes Glenn might have wrote this in simply to get an RPG for an episode.
But Rob actually got fat to have that written in to almost an entire season. That’s dedication.
Why do I feel like Glenn Howerton wrote this episode just to get am RPG?
Very reminiscent of the scene where they give Charlie a new rat stick. One of my favorites.
“thats not anthrax it’s powder sug.. oh Frank’s already eating it!”
I’m biased because this is my favorite show on TV right now, but the acting on this show is just so superb and deserves the attention. Dennis’ little mannerisms as the gift is unveiled and he realizes what it is is just too perfect. Best comedy on TV, without a doubt.
I’ve rewatched all the seasons so many time and yet I still laugh my ass out at times , such a good show
Biggest example of this for me is from the last season when (SPOILER) Mac finds out he’s gay and the gang lets him have the rest of the day in peace.
Fun fact: RPG does not stand for Rocket Propelled Grenade, that is a [backronym](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backronym). It actually comes from РПГ or ручной противотанковый гранатомёт (transliterated as “ruchnoy protivotankovy granatomyot”), meaning “hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher”
The model in the video is the [RPG-7](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RPG-7), the stand-out most popular system in use today by kilometres. The standard round can penetrate half a meter of hardened steel armour, or 1.5 meters (5 feet) of brick wall.
An interesting fact about it’s mechanics is that, when aiming in the wind, you aim down-wind rather than up-wind. The reason being that the rocket motor is at the rear with the stabilisation fins, and it is the stabilisation fins which are most affected by the wind. So the when the finned-rear blows in the wind and the round rotates slightly up-wind.
Dennis may want that RPG more than anything in the world… and don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t mind one of those either… but what I *really* want more than anything is Mac’s shirt.
God damn, it’s beautiful.
Only two times I ever got a heart warming feeling there was nothing unsettling.
1. Dee comes out with the baby and they’re all looking lovingly at it.
2. Dennis holding his son who says “Bye daddy”. So much shit got in my eye for that scene.
It’s also one of the few shows I can literally turn on any random episode and just have it on in the background and still absolutely love every second of it. Not a single episode gets old, or stale.
I think I’ve watched the entire catalogue 10 times over at this point, with some episodes well over 15-20 views just out of random selection/playing. But it’s still all gold. Genius writing, incredible acting, absurd plot lines that all seem to somehow work. I can never get enough.
The best example for me is S12E06, where the gang were hiring attorneys in order to get a payout for saving each other’s lives or something like that. But it all came down to a homophobic slur that Frank used, and in order to get the payout, Mac had to claim to be gay after god knows how many seasons in the closet.
Mac: Does that mean if I claim to be gay, I get all of it?
Attorney: Well… yes… you’d be entitled to keep all of it.
Mac: I claim to be gay!
Frank: Bullshit!
Dennis: There’s a history behind this.
Frank: As soon as he gets that ticket, he’s going back in the closet.
Mac got the payout.
Frank: Yeah, yeah, sign the papers so you can go back in the closet.
Mac: Huh?
Dennis: Well, you signed the thing, you got your money. Just go back in the closet. Just get it over with.
Charlie: Yeah, you know you’re gonna do it, so you might as well just do it.
Mac: Yeah… yeah… …I don’t know… …maybe I’ll… …maybe I’ll stay out.
Charlie: …really?
Dennis: It doesn’t matter. You could just go back in. You signed the paper…
Mac: No I think I’m out now. Yeah… I’m gay. Actually, it feels pretty good. See you guys!
Did you ever know that you’re my hero?
I dunno, man. I’m never really “heart-warmed” from IASIP (but I ***LOVE*** the show, don’t get me wrong).
That said, *The Mick* (Kaitlin Olson’s other show) does have heart-warming moments and does get very unsettling. I’m consistently surprised by how PG the show seems one moment, and then ramps it up to 11 the next.
Dee looks like a bird.
At this point that bar is iconic as the one from Cheers
Great show, but when I think heartwarming and unsettling I think of Shameless and Scrubs.
IASIP is unsettling and hilarious.
Shut up stupid science bitch
Okay guys. Please tell me is this show worth watching? I love classic sitcoms like himym, community and parks and rec. So should i give it a try?
Dee you goddamn bitch
I am dennis, and IASIP is the rocket launcher
I totally agree with this.. wait, you’re talking about the Ass Pounder 4000 right?
I’m 99% certain that aside from this episode Dennis had never once brought up a rocket launcher, or given any other indication of his weird obsession with them.
