1. A VPN will only hide your IP, not your account.

   Although if your VPN has a reliable encryption, and you don’t visit phishing sites, then you should be good. Don’t click on random links, since they may have beacons which can track your IP.

   To be safe, you can delete your account. That or strengthen your password.

2. If the admins/mods are offended/want to, it’s already “too late” as many forums tag posts with IP used (adminsmods can see IP history of users). Coming back with a VPN under the same account would just add to this. My suggestion, don’t make controversial posts if you aren’t willing to deal with the consequences. If you are doing these types of things then hide your information before connecting and creating accounts (ensure that there is no link to “you” with the account). Savvy enough people will usually find a way regardless. I wish you luck.
