Who do you trust more. Microsoft, or your VPN provider.
But it does not support OpenVPN right? others a bit clucky to setup and run properly.
I don’t know that anyone has directly answered your question, so I’ll tell you my opinion as one who uses AirVPN on Linux.
If you are faced with an “either/or” decision on Windows, choose Eddie. It was designed by the folks at AirVPN with only one thing in mind – to protect you from leaks and other security issues. Instructions are readily available at their site and through their forums which is critical to preventing user error, IMO. Unless one is very tech savvy, it seems far less secure to be mucking around with OS settings to lock down a VPN. It can be done, of course, but at what risk? What if I miss something? What if I enable a setting that should be disabled?
The guys at AirVPN have FAR more skill than I ever will when it comes to VPN security, and they have baked almost all of that knowledge into Eddie in a relatively user friendly manner. Windows doesn’t know anything about AirVPN and will rely on you to get it right. Eddie knows everything about AirVPN because it is built solely for that purpose. Eddie enables you to see, at the click of a button, how loaded each server is so you can switch to a better one with one click. Eddie enables you to see, at a glance, that your system is locked. Eddie blocks your internet connection entirely – via your firewall – if you happen to lose your connection to the AirVPN server…
So unless you really, really know what you’re doing, use Eddie.
