If so, why is it that whether I connect to a Japan VPN or a US one, I get the same speeds. I’m assuming if I was connecting all the way to Japan it would add lots of latency and reduce download speeds significantly.
Bridge over VPS ?
I am currently having VPN expiring at the end of this month and on a hunt for something new. I have heard several people mentioning that they are using the terms **Bridge over VPS** for best experience. Now those terms are going over my head and googling throws up random results. Can anyone help me here as to what should I go for?
VPN via IKEv2 working with Windows 10 but not on MacOS Catalina
Hey there! I’ve searched for almost half a day now, but I can’t seem to find a solution to my problem.
I use two notebooks working from home, 1 Windows 10 notebook and 1 MacBook running Catalina. Since SSTP support for MacOS is scarce IKEv2 is the way to go. The Windows machine connects without problems. but trying to connect with the MacBook results in “Unexpected error occured”.
Deeper digging with tcpdump gives me this output:

Any info on how to fix this? Both machines are connected to the internet via the same WiFi. Both cards have an MTU of 1500.
Edit: both machines use cert based authentication.
Edit: solved it.
Man MacOS likes mobile configs better than anything else. Had to fiddle around with the integrity algo (i need SHA1-96) with Apple Configurator 2 (available at the App Store) and booom I am connected. Thanks for any replies!
Edit: I don’t get DNS or a gateway assigned though. But I’m pretty sure we’ll fix that soon.

IPleak says LA, California but whatismyipadress says Plano, Texas.
How to turn a mac mini into a personal vpn server
Hi. Not sure if this is the subreddit for this question. I am trying to turn a 2012 mac mini into a personal VPN server, but I’m confused about how to proceed. All the videos and instructions I found say how to create an ubuntu VPN server to attach to, but nothing on how to turn a mac into a VPN server (except for buying macOS server which I don’t trust). Does anyone know where I can find instructions on how to pull this off?

My end goal is to make a secure connection to the mac mini, regardless of network or operating system I’m using to access it (macOS or Windows 10), so I can use it to store/retrieve files and screen share with it if needed.

Question about setting up a private VPN server
Hi!
Since two weeks ago my workspace started to block streaming services like Spotify and YouTube on it’s WiFi network and I thought I could start to use a VPN to get around this nonsense.
A coworker told me he uses his own VPN what he mad on his NAS, but sadly I don’t have a NAS my home multimedia server is an oldish Win 10 based NUC, I’m not really into convert it to linux.
Can I make my own VPN server from Win 10?
It has to be IKEv2, IPsec or L2TP because I want to use it with my iPhone.
In wich country ahould i set my VPN?
So, for day to day use, im always behind a VPN. Im from CANADA, and i always choose the fastest server wich is obviously in Canada. So if speed is not a major concern (not gaming, not streaming, just browsing) what country should i use to be more private? I mean where there is strict rules regarding online privacy? VPN active when using an external boot drive?
Question: If I have a vpn on my laptop with a wireless card, and I then using a usb boot drive, use tails or kali Linux, will the vpn still be active on the internet I access. (aplogies if this is not the correct forum to ask in)
