1. Extension works best because it can block actual elements on the page. The VPN is stuck trying to block the actual ad calls which can sometimes bypass this method.

   I’ve found the ad blocking support from VPNs like PIA to be OK but not better than extensions. I use the two together.

2. VPN adblocking means they block domain name, not ad itself. i see sometimes spots for ads as blank space.

3. PIA has something called MACE a blocking – but in my experience it is totally ineffective. It doesn’t appear to block anything.
