VPN on Xbox problem

My VPN worked flawlessly on my Xbox initially but out of nowhere my Xbox would not connect to it. Now, the only way I can get it to work is to 1) un-share my VPN with my Xbox Ethernet on my laptop. 2) turn my Xbox on and clear the MAC address. 3) change my VPN server location then re-share my VPN connection with my Xbox Ethernet on my laptop. THEN 3) hard-reset my Xbox 5 to 10 times until it connects). I don’t mind the first 2 steps but having to restart my Xbox that many times is annoying at this point so I was seeing if anyone knows a workaround to this problem? Let me know if any more info would help, thanks!
