1. Maybe it has been answered already, but you should be able to access your gateway’s internal interface address. Because it is on the same network, your routing table will have an entry to match.

   You only require a gateway for unknown addresses. Your router’s IP will be part of your network, so your pc can get the mac address by sending an arp who-has request. You can check your arp cache by running “arp -a”.

2. Your PC and your router are on the same network. This is working as intended.

   Traffic only goes through the VPN when leaving your local network. Your router is on the same network so there is no reason to use the VPN tunnel.

   You’re on your LAN and can still access your router? Or you can still access it from the WAN?
