  1. Tutanota is not a temporary mail per se, but an account is very quick one to create and can be also deleted afterwards. It is also encrypted, so deleting makes little diference. I’d keep the mail active so I could still receive whatever announcements or support ticket notifications the VPN provider might want to send to me.

  2. [GuerrillaMail](https://www.guerrillamail.com) is my go-to when I just want a temporary email address. I hop in there through TOR, register for my VPN, then once you close the window the emails are deleted within the hour.

As far as how helpful it is to actually completely anonymize you and your transaction, you could probably still be tracked if someone was *really* out to get you, but for basic obfuscation it’s fine.

  3. There is legitimate reasons to have a VPN and if VPN provider doesn’t keep logs, it doesn’t really matter what email or payment method you use. So no need to go full tinfoil hat on this one.

  4. i used my own email and visa, because i trust VPN service i use, and i dont do anything illegal (grey area stuff only)

  5. On CitizenVPN you are allowed to use any mail address incl. throwaways.

But apart from that, since we keep no logs it shouldn’t matter much that the email you used to sign up can be traced to you. All that can be proven is that you own a VPN account, it doesn’t show what you did (what sites you visited etc) when you were connected.

We’ve also gone a step further. Our HQ is in Bahamas and is delivering the service and owning/handling the VPN servers, but you purchase from our Danish subsidiary who owns/handles the customer records. So lets say you are located in USA and connected to our UK server, if the government wanted to subpoena to try to get information they would have to subpoena our Danish subsidiary to get your email address (and we would just deny it). They would then need to subpoena the Bahamas HQ to gain access to VPN servers (and we would again deny it). They would also probably then need to subpoena the UK datacenter to force access to the VPN server, which theoretically they could do. So, long story short, they need to co-ordinate multiple subpoenas in multiple countries, and even then they wouldn’t be able to tie your email address to any activity other than connecting. I hope it makes sense 🙂
