  54. My MIL’s dog, Annie, would react like that when we visited. Trouble was, she had a bit of a weak bladder (Annie, not my MIL) and she’d pee herself in mid dance-of-joy – often on your feet, luggage, etc.

    So every visit we’d have pull up in the car, MIL would let Annie out, we’d roll down a window and say things like “HEY Annie you’re such a good girl. Yes you are”, she’d get over-excited dancing around the car, pee herself and then we’d step out.

  57. Meanwhile we were gone for 2 weeks and our dog gave zero cares when we picked her up from the MIL.

  59. Would love if my dog did this. When I’m gone for more than five minutes she does what my wife and I call a “derp face,” cowers, and pees when I return. She’s part retriever, and I’ve read that’s fairly common with those.

Came back from being abroad for half a year, dad picked me up from the airport, dog ran out of the door, straight to my dad and was like “omg I didn’t see you for two hours so glad to have you back”, after that he looked at me, sniffed my pants for 2 secs and was like “oh you’re also a part of the family, well yeah I guess you’re back home too” and just walked away

  72. I remember the first time I came home when I started college, was gone for about 2 months. Dogs didn’t recognize me at first then completely flipped out for the entire weekend.

  75. This is my Max every time I come home from work… except he’s 107 pounds of pure wiggles and fur.

  77. After 5 days they are happy. After 10-12 days they are ticked. Source: we go out of country on vacation once a year and use a house sitter. Dogs are always ticked.
