1. Yes as long as there is a kill switch option with the VPN you choose so that if/when it loses connection with the VPN servers, it kills your internet instead of allowing you to continue to browse unsecure.

2. I guess maybe to take this even a step further, will an isp be able to view your traffic if you use a vpn but still use your normal, everyday browser?

3. Yes and no. Your ISP will not see what you are doing, but if you continue to use it like normal, everyone else will know. So if you just want to hide something from your ISP than yes, but just using a VPN will not increase your overall Privacy, because the VPN will be linked to the Cookies and everything else you used before.

4. Not if DNS is leaking.

   DNS leak refers to a security flaw that allows DNS requests to be revealed to ISP DNS servers, despite the use of a VPN service to attempt to conceal them.

   Edit: also, make sure your IPv6 is not leaking. This could also reveal your identity on the internet. Unfortunately, many paid VPNs still leak IPv6.
