Therefore only people with a good amount of money would it work for…and if someone has enough money to buy a 2000-4000$ PC…then they can probably afford a VPN subscription…
Mining via javascript like coinhive on someone’s shitty cpu is gonna get you like 50-100 hashes per sec at best for cryptonight algorithm (What Monero is Based On) – That would be maybe a buck or two a month at most…
Some dude who has a AMD ThreadRipper 1950x and a Nvidia 1080ti and just allows like 30% usage would probably make 600-800 per sec hashes at just 30%. Now you are talking about 15-25$ a month which could definitely be profitable for a VPN company.
Here’s an idea: Monster Rig VPN Company LLC – Free VPN for anyone who can let us mine at least 600 hashes per sec on their computer 24/7. Or maybe you just come up with a total hashes figure. Like you need 2 billion hashes per month or something and it becomes free.
HOWEVER – This doesn’t even factor in electricity costs. You will definitely pay at least 15-25$ more on your next power bill if you leave a monster rig running 24/7 for a month. So instead of paying money to a VPN company directly, you will be paying that amount of money or more to your power company instead. No real profit or advantage. And no a couple hours of mining a day isn’t gonna be enough to make it profitable for VPN company.

You get the idea, I just don’t think its currently feasible unless the person would have an awesome computer and not pay for electricity. How many people can say that? I guess their be targeting the 1% of the population that applies to.
